The KID success story: quality and innovation since 1980
- 1980
Company foundation
KID Imprägnier- und Polymertechnik GmbH was founded in 1980 by Peter Hüls. The aim: to combine customer-orientated contract impregnation with the highest quality standards.
- 1985-1995
Expansion in Germany
KID Imprägnier- und Polymertechnik GmbH operates very successfully in the predominantly German market and opens further locations, including the first impregnation centre at VW Chemnitz on the factory premises – the on-site business model is launched.
- 1998
Acquisition by Henkel
The company was taken over by Henkel AG and integrated into the Loctite business unit. This marked the beginning of a growth process that opened up new perspectives.
- 2006
Expansion into Eastern Europe
As part of the Henkel Group, KID expanded its presence in Europe and opened sites in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. This strategic expansion strengthened the company’s position on the European market.
- 2014
Global expansion
KID is leading the global expansion of Henkel’s impregnation business with new sites in China and North America.
- 2023
Management buy-out
As part of a strategic sale, KID was taken over by the long-standing Managing Director Markus Alterauge and his son Jannik. The company thus returned to its roots as a medium-sized, family-run company in order to respond more flexibly to customer needs and promote long-term partnerships.
